A day that started off on the right note with Eddie (The Peddler) Allen declaring himself fit to play in the Cox Cup Semi Final after his London to Brighton Charity ride yesterday, ended with a last end defeat for "The Bay".
The real disappointment came about when the rink of Terry Kelly, Shaun Woolford, Paul Woollford and Grant Allen completed their 21 ends with a fine 19 - 14 win over their counterparts from Milton Regis. Our other rink of Dave Mason, Scott Whiting, Eddie Allen and Ian Robb struggled through most of the game at one stage being 18 - 4 down. When Grant's rink had completed their game Ian's rink still had 2 ends to play but had fought back to make an overall deficit of 7 shots. Suddenly from out of the blue on the 20th end we scored a 6 making it 1 behind on the last end. Unfortunately the gods did not see fit to smile on us for the 21st end. So for the second year running we go out of the competition on the last end of the Semi Final.
We were supported by over 30 travelling supporters (I will refrain from naming them incase I miss anyone out). But from the team and myself a might big thank you for giving up your Sunday to come and support us. We really appreciated seeing the friendly faces scattered around the green well outnumbering the 3 other teams followers.
So as we sound out "The Last Post" for the 2017 season all we can do is lick our wounds and come back next year and win a top honour for "The Bay".
